Customs and import duties
When you order an item that’s shipped to you from another country, your own country’s customs authority may charge import duties and taxes before the parcel is delivered. This is completely normal for international post — it’s how cross-border shopping works everywhere, not something specific to Preloved Bazaar.
Who pays, and to whom
Any customs charges, import duties or taxes are set and charged by your own country, and they’re paid by you, the buyer. They’re separate from the order total you pay on Preloved Bazaar, and they’re usually collected by the courier or postal service at or before delivery.
Because these charges come from your government and not from us, we can’t calculate, collect or waive them, and we can’t tell you the exact amount in advance.
When you’re more likely to see charges
It varies by destination and by the value of the order. For deliveries to the United States and to EU-27 countries, an international parcel will likely incur customs or import charges. For other destinations, you may or may not be charged, depending on local thresholds and rules.
How to avoid surprises
- Check your own country’s rules on import duty and tax thresholds before buying from abroad.
- Remember the order total at checkout does not include any customs charges.
- If a parcel is held by customs, you’ll usually be contacted by the courier with instructions to pay before it’s released.
If you’d rather avoid customs entirely, look for items being shipped from within your own country — those won’t go through international customs.
