Do prices include customs or duties?

Do prices include customs or duties?

Short answer: no. The price you see and the total you pay at checkout on Preloved Bazaar do not include any customs charges, import duties or import taxes. Those are separate, and we explain why below.

What your order total does include

When you check out, your total is made up of:

  • The item price, in the seller’s currency.
  • The seller’s postage (domestic or international, depending on the listing).
  • The “Preloved Protection” fee that funds buyer protection.

That’s everything we charge. Customs is not part of it.

Why customs isn’t included

Customs charges, import duties and taxes on an international parcel are set and collected by your own country’s authorities — not by Preloved Bazaar and not by the seller. Because they’re decided by your government based on the item, its value and your local rules, we can’t calculate them, collect them in advance or include them in your total. They’re usually paid to the courier or postal service at or before delivery.

When you’re likely to be charged

It depends on where the parcel is going. Deliveries to the United States and to EU-27 countries will likely incur customs or import charges; for other destinations you may or may not, depending on local thresholds.

How to avoid customs charges

If you’d prefer not to deal with customs at all, look for items shipping from within your own country — domestic parcels don’t go through international customs. For more detail, see our guide on customs and import duties.
