Preloved Bazaar is a marketplace for preloved South Asian, desi, modest and wedding wear. Here’s where we operate and how currencies work.
Where we operate
Buyers can shop and check out from effectively anywhere. Sellers can join from the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and the EU. A seller sets their country when they connect their payouts, and it stays fixed after that.
Whether a particular item can be delivered to you depends on the seller. Each listing is either domestic-only or offered internationally, so if a seller posts abroad you’ll see a shipping option for that item at checkout. We don’t ship every item everywhere — it’s up to each seller.
How currencies work
We keep this simple, the way buying from an overseas shop already works:
- Prices are shown in the seller’s currency. A UK seller’s items are priced in pounds (£), a US seller’s in US dollars (US$), and so on — whatever currency that seller is paid in.
- Your own bank or card issuer does the conversion. If you’re paying for an item priced in a currency other than your own, your bank converts it at their exchange rate when the payment goes through — exactly like any other overseas purchase.
- We don’t add a currency-conversion or FX fee, and we don’t convert prices ourselves. The price you see is the seller’s price; what lands on your statement is your bank’s conversion of it.
Buying from a seller in another country
You can buy from a seller abroad just like a local one — the item simply shows in their currency, and your card handles the conversion.
Customs and import duties or taxes on international orders are charged by your own country and paid by you on delivery, separately from your order total. For deliveries to the US and the EU these will likely apply; elsewhere they may apply, depending on local rules.
For sellers
Sellers list and see their dashboard in their own currency, and are paid out in that currency. There’s no Preloved Bazaar selling commission; a payment-processing fee (via Stripe) is deducted from each payout.
