Most orders on Preloved Bazaar include a small Preloved Protection fee — and your very first order is free of it. Here’s what it is, how it’s worked out, and what it buys you.
How much is it?
The fee is 0.50 in the listing’s currency plus 5% of the item price — that’s 50p plus 5% on UK listings. The 5% is based on the item only — postage isn’t part of the calculation. You’ll see it as a separate “Preloved Protection” line in your order summary before you pay.
A quick example
On a £30 item: 5% of £30 is £1.50, plus the £0.50 base, so the Preloved Protection fee is £2.00. If postage on that order were £3.50, the postage wouldn’t change the fee — it’s still worked out on the £30 item alone.
What the fee pays for
- A refund if your item isn’t as described or doesn’t arrive.
- Your payment held securely by Stripe, rather than going straight to the seller, until they’ve posted your item with tracking and a short protection window has passed.
- Support for buyers and sellers if a problem needs resolving.
Is the fee refundable?
Yes. If your order is refunded, the Preloved Protection fee is refunded in full along with your item and postage — you’re not left out of pocket for the fee.
Good to know
- Your first order is free of the fee. The Preloved Protection fee is waived on your very first purchase — and you’re still fully covered.
- The fee is paid by the buyer, not the seller — it isn’t taken from a seller’s earnings.
- It applies per order, in the seller’s currency. If that isn’t your own currency, your bank converts it at their rate when you pay — we don’t add a conversion fee.
